Today’s Crowd Rating:

Upriver: 2.0

Walk-In: 1.0

Key:
1 = Sleep late and fish where you want.
10 = Very crowded, get up early!

Today’s Weather:

Today’s weather was absolutely fantastic. We had such warm afternoon with a high of about 55 degrees. Our morning temperatures were around 34. Clear skies, no wind! What could possibly be bad about a day like this during the month of January?

Today’s River Flows:

Releases from Glen Canyon Dam in January, 2007 will average 13,000
cubic feet per second (cfs) with a total of 800,000 acre-feet scheduled
to be released for the month.  On Mondays through Fridays in December,
daily release fluctuations due to load following will likely vary
between a low of 9,000 cfs (during late evening and early morning
off-peak hours) to a high of 17,000 cfs (during daylight and early
evening on-peak hours).  On Saturdays, release fluctuations will likely
vary between a low of 9,000 cfs to a high of 16,000 cfs.  On Sundays,
release fluctuations will likely vary between a low of 9,000 cfs to a
high of 15,500 cfs.

.

Today’s Fly Fishing:

Today was a day off for the trout, as we haven’t received any new reports as of yet. The midge population is slightly increasing, especially with lease clear sunny days that are getting longer as we move toward springtime. Otherwise san juan worms and glo bugs are the way to go.

Today’s Walk-in Fishing:

Heard from two anglers that fished at this section and it seems that the fishing was slow. Sometimes it takes a good deal of time to figure out this area. Always a great stretch of water to work, it does require trial and error and plenty of patients. Best fly patterns have red san juans, orange scuds, & laser midges.

Spin Fishing Report:

None

Projected River Flows:

Releases from Glen Canyon Dam in February 2007 will be lower. A total of 605,000 acre-fee (an average of 10,900 cfs) are scheduled to be released in February 2007. Releases in March 2007 are scheduled to be 600,000 acre-feet for the month (an average of 9,800 cfs).

Fishing Forecast

As it stands the fishing has been so good lately and will likely only get better, as we have had calm weather conditions. This along with very low crowds and lower river flows in February will make for even better fishing.
