I moved from Tucson to Northern Arizona in December, 1996 to begin my career as a full time guide for Lees Ferry Anglers. For over 10 years, I guided fly- and spin-fishing clients on the river at least 175 days per year.
I strive to provide the best fishing instruction and information to my clients while having a great time catching rainbows at Lees Ferry and warm water species offered at Lake Powell. I started Lake Powell Outfitters Guide Service in May, 2003. Since 2007, I have worked full-time for the Page Unified School District as head of the grounds department and continued to guide and “fun fish” Lees Ferry.
I am a native of Tucson. I cut my teeth trout fishing in the mountains north of the city at the age of 7. I started bass fishing when I was 20 and spent most days off from my job at a local tackle shop fishing for bass and crappie with conventional gear all around southern and central Arizona. I started fishing club and team tournaments in 1990 as a non-boater. I began fly fishing when I was 23 as a break from the tournament lifestyle. I love the artistry of the cast and presentation. I’ve fished in many western states while chasing trout with the fly rod. I don’t get much time to just take off and go fish, but when I do I usually choose fly fishing for trout in small streams somewhere in the Mountain West. They say you don’t find trout in ugly places … that’s certainly true.
My hobbies include trout and bass fishing, photography, hiking, fly-tying, lure building, custom jewelry design, electric guitar, auto repair, and of course spending time with my great family. I feel very fortunate to live, fish and guide in the most beautiful place in the world with my wife and our 3 daughters.
